Willow Round Basket

Come and join us in learning the basics of stake and strand basketry and make your very own basket to take home. You will have time to make a wide and shallow basket, suitable for a fruit bowl or a taller basket suitable as a plant pot holder or storage basket. If time permits, we will add able an appropriate handle.

You will learn how to make a round base, insert your side stakes, secure them with a 3-rod wale, then weave the sides with a French rand. You will finish with a rod border and add a suitable handle if there is time.

The day starts at 9:30 and will finish at around 5:00. We will share a simple vegetarian lunch and the joy of making together! ☺️

While this workshop is suitable for beginners, working with willow can be hard on the hands and does require a good level of hand strength and dexterity. Most people find the day intense but very rewarding. Come prepared to work hard and you will be so proud of what you can achieve in a day.
