African Descent Festival 2017.

Dear our beloved fans, supporters, solidas, local and international sponsors of African Descent Festival BC.
We would like to acknowledge that we are organizing an event that is taking place on the unceded and ancestral lands of the Stó:lō, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We emphasize our gratitude towards these Nations for our ability to organize on this land.

African Descent Festival is organized and presented by the African Descent Society British Columbia (ADSBC), which is a Arts and Cultural Heritage Non-Profit Organization based in Vancouver Hogan's Alley -Thornton Park Historic African Descent first community in Vancouver since 1900 in Vancouver British Columbia. Our mission is to promote the arts, culture, and heritage of the people of African descent who reside in Vancouver BC since 19th century and rejuvinate Hogan's Alley with African Descent Cultural Centre after the City remove the Georgia Viaduct which destroyed our community late in 1970's. This is done through live music and cultural presentations in honour of the United Nations International Decade for African Descent, UNESCO General History of Africa, and in memory of Hogan's Alley and the vibrancy that existed in Hogan's community hub. We are proud for the long journey advocate for a cultural Centre. The City recognised this project once they remove the Viaduct to alocate a space for People of African Descent.
