With “SLEEPWALK”, his fresh release on Figure and Ground Records, Combo Chimbita’s legendary psych-metrononome drummer Dilemastronauta has put together a new Brooklyn quartet inspired by the tiny but powerful millo flute of Colombia’s Northern Coast. Featuring NYC”s best known millo player, Carlos Rienzo, the band explores the instrument in the non-traditional space of psych rock, electronics, jazz, and indie groove — with traditional Colombian cumbia underpinning the sound at every angle. The band also features two other well-renowned NYC-Colombian musicians: Juan Ospina (M.A.K.U. Soundystem) on bass and Ricardo Gallo on synths/keyboard.
