What is the greatest need of every soul? The Word of God. Jesus says, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matt.4:4). Christ has given the church a sufficient Word to fulfill His Commission to take the gospel into all the world. In understanding the Great Commission, it is vital to remember that the Bible claims that it is sufficient in dealing with all of man's problems related to life and living (2 Pet 1:3). Additionally, Paul says that Christians, supplied with the Bible, are fully equipped to help one another, particularly through the ministry of counseling (Rom 15:14). However, rather than turning anew to the Scriptures, many Christian authors and counselors have come to conclude that the Bible is not sufficient, not powerful enough to counsel the deep needs of man's soul.

Many Christians today maintain that to care for souls properly, there is a need to integrate the psychological wisdom of men in counseling where the Bible is either weak or silent. The word psychology is defined as "the study of the soul." Yet, clearly, the Bible says that it provides the perfect restoration of the soul. Thus, the Bible is the sufficiently perfect book to study, diagnose and treat the soul!

As Biblical Counselors, we believe that the church as a whole must return to the Bible as the perfect source which can restore the soul. That is the purpose for our conference this year.

We are excited about our 37th Annual Truth & Hope Conference, whose theme is "Perfect Psychology: Returning to the Bible for the Soul." We are pleased to have Dr. Daniel Berger with us, pastor, lecturer and author, who will bring excellent biblical insight on this important topic.
