- **Event Description**: For families curious about Chinese (Mandarin) but unsure where to begin, this camp helps children and pre-teens begin speaking from day one. Designed for true beginners, with flexible age- and level-based grouping so campers feel comfortable and engaged. Mornings build conversational skills, while afternoons bring movement through dragon and lion dance rehearsal (Given the strong ongoing interest, a conversational skills session will be available again for PM-only students). Stories, crafts, music, and games are woven throughout the day, with fun chopsticks practice at lunch and Chinese used naturally for daily routines. Through this immersion-style, play-based experience, campers develop cognitive flexibility, musical sensitivity to tone, near-native pronunciation, and cultural intelligence. T-shirt included while supplies last. Half day or combine both sessions for a full day. Wrap-around care and MCA credit offered.

Time: June 22–26 · 9:00 AM–12:00 PM · 12:00 PM–3:00 PM

$200/student/session; $400/student/full-day

Location: North Liberty Rec Center (520 W Cherry St, North Liberty, IA 52317)

MCA credit available ($10 per additional child or $20 per child for full-day enrollment, not combinable) for future group Chinese classes. Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value. 

We plan to participate in the North Liberty summer lunch and fun program for full-day and half-day sessions. If the program is adjusted or canceled, families will be notified in advance and may send a lunch. 

Financial assistance available upon request (half tuition for free/reduced lunch families)
