Some hikes are rites of passage. Mount Si isn’t just one of them — it’s the one. Rising above North Bend like a green cathedral, Mount Si is both teacher and test, legend and local icon. It’s where hikers fall in love with the mountains — one switchback, one sweeping view, one deep breath at a time.

Long before it became Washington’s most famous training ground, Mount Si was sacred to the Snoqualmie Tribe, who knew it as the body of the moon god, transformed into stone. Today, its story continues in the footsteps of every climber who dares its 3,200-foot ascent. It’s no wonder this mountain has shaped generations of hikers — it’s both humbling and exhilarating, a stairway into the clouds.

The route climbs through layers of forest, from salal and moss to hemlock and fir, before breaking out near the top into the open talus slopes that overlook the Snoqualmie Valley. At ~8 miles round-trip, it’s a workout in every sense, but the reward — a sweeping panorama of the valley, Rattlesnake Ledge, and Mount Rainier far to the south — is pure magic.

By late June, the air up here smells of sunlit pine and granite dust, and the mountain is alive with bird calls and wildflowers pushing through cracks in the rock. Every drop of sweat feels earned — and somehow worth it.

This hike captures the essence of Tenderfoot Adventures — grit, laughter, a few good-natured groans, and that quiet moment of awe when you realize just how far you’ve come.

We’ll meet at Mount Si Trailhead at 9:05 a.m. sharp to beat the crowd and the heat. Bring plenty of water, lunch, and trekking poles — and if you spot a mountain goat near the summit, consider it a nod from the mountain gods themselves.

Mount Si — Washington Trails Association

We'll meet in the far north end of the north parking lot at the Green Lake Park and Ride, and directly under the I-5 freeway at 8 am. Since we are heading east, we can also stop off at the Eastgate Outback Steakhouse at 8:30 am to either pick up additional riders or further coordinate rideshares. Rideshare for the day is $11 per person from the Green Lake Park and Ride and $7 per person from the Eastgate Outback Steakhouse, and is paid to the driver of the vehicle.

Yes, there are two separate fees regarding this event. The event fee, and then a rideshare if you are riding as a passenger with a driver.

Sorry, no doggies are allowed at any Tenderfoot Adventures events as per our insurance policy. We all love our fur babies, and I am sure that yours is amazing as well, but alas, there are no doggies allowed at any of our events.
