Saulteaux First Nation Youth Learn To Skate Camp

This event a two day learn to skate camp where we teach youth in Saulteaux First Nation how to skate and what roller derby is. Our goal is to provide youth with the opportunity to try something new in a safe environment with experienced coaches. We believe that roller derby as a sport is valuable to youth who may not enjoy more common main stream sports, in addition to the benefits of learning leadership, problem solving, and building friendships.

We will host an invitational game on the second day of the camp starting at 3pm on August 10th. This game is to demonstrate a live derby bout for the youth and the members of the community so they can see the action with experienced skaters. Our goal is to share our love of roller derby and what it means to us! This section of the camp is open to all members of the community! Everyone is encouraged to come and watch.

For youth to participate in this event, they must be between the ages of 8-18 and be members of Saulteaux First Nation. This event is available to a maximum of 20 youth. Registration is free, registration forms must be filled out prior. Meals and all gear required will be provided during the event.
