One-Time Session 

This beginner-friendly class is a great introduction to the woodturning lathe and the tools used to shape wood safely and confidently. Students will learn the basics of lathe operation, proper tool use, safety practices, and how to sharpen tools for successful turning. Each student will register for one time slot and work one-on-one with instructor John Polly, allowing for personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on guidance. During the class, students will create two tea light candle holders to take home.

About the Instructor:
John Polly has been doing woodworking for over 50 years and specializes in revealing the inner beauty of wood. Since retirement, he has developed and taught classes for school age children and adults at a variety of locations including Appalachian Arts Craft Center, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, local schools, PostMark LaFollette, and in private studio sessions. He operates his studio in Jacksboro, Tennessee.
