This project blends traditional stained glass techniques with creative upcycling, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art! A variety of repurposed centerpieces will be available for students to choose from, but students are encouraged to bring a meaningful or interesting item of their own if desired. (Please note: centerpiece items should not exceed 6” in diameter.) During the class, students will: -Create and prepare custom templates for your flower design -Learn additional construction and soldering techniques -Explore how to use stained glass patina to add depth and character by “coloring” your solder lines - Gain more confidence working with stained glass tools and materials This class is designed to be both educational and relaxed, with plenty of time for questions, troubleshooting, and individual guidance throughout the creative process. Whether you want to refine your technique, experiment artistically, or simply enjoy creating alongside others, this class offers a fun and inspiring next step in your stained glass journey. Prerequisite: Completion of a Beginner’s Stained Glass class or basic experience with glass cutting, copper, foil, and soldering. Age: 16+ Member Rate: $165 Non-Member Rate: $180 Material Fee: $20 (paid directly to instructor). Registration Deadline: July 8 About the Instructor: Marc Rotman has worked in the medium of Stained Glass, utilizing both the copper foil and lead techniques for over 28 years. Marc regularly integrates repurposed and recycled items into his original works as they bring inspiration, surprise, and a little fun into each composition. Marc enjoys working with unconventional elements, finding them both inspirational and challenging at the same time. Marc has exhibited at the Fountain City Library, The Emporium, the Big Ears Festival and the Rossini Festival, along with numerous “Makers Markets” within the East TN region. Marc also teaches stained glass in his home studio as well as in other Art Centers around the region.
