We are celebrating International Bat Night at Lake Thunderbird with a guest speaker from WildCare Oklahoma who is focused on bat conservation. 

Starting at the Discovery Cove Nature Center at 6:30 pm, we will learn about bats and their contribution to surrounding ecosystems. 

At dusk, 7:30 pm, we will begin the bat walk! Bat calls are too high a frequency for the human ear. Therefore, we will listen for bats using an Echo Meter that will help us identify nearby species. We will also use red-light flashlights, provided by the Nature Center, to see if we can spot them! 

Please come prepared for a low-to-medium-difficulty hike by bringing the following:
- Water 
- Comfortable closed-toe shoes
- Bug spray

Please DO NOT bring personal flashlights unless they have a red light. Red lights do not disturb resting wildlife and make it easier for people to focus in the dark.

Weather permitting. In the case of lightning or severe weather, this event will be cancelled and rescheduled.
