Heartland Jazz Orchestra takes its role as a community organization seriously. HJO, which began its existence in 1999, has been run under three different directors in its history. Under the current leadership of outstanding musician and former trumpet player David Hoffman, the band performs a variety of gigs including, but not limited to, coffeehouses, pubs, restaurants, festivals, private parties, fundraisers, dances, weddings, and special public events. The orchestra also incorporates a jazz educational outreach program, giving free jazz clinics and concerts at Illinois schools. We have performed with several well-known local and national jazz artists; Chip McNeill, Chip Stevens, Orbert Davis, Rob Parton, Kevin Hart, Todd Kelly, Kurt Elling, John Campbell, and Chuchito Valdes to name a few.
Connie Link Amphitheatre is a beautiful and unique performance venue that offers FREE or low cost entertainment for the whole family! Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, kick back, relax and let us take care of you! Concessions, such as soda/water, popcorn, candy, and frozen desserts will be available for $2.00 each!
