Le simple historique de ses venues à Sons d’hiver en est un témoignage éclatant : en quintet en 2015 ; en grande formation en 2024, avec quatuor à cordes et vocaliste hip-hop pour le plantureux Origami Harvest ; en trio en 2024 pour Owl Song. Plus rares sont ses performances en solo, telles qu’immortalisées sur l’album Beauty is Enough en 2023, enregistré à Paris dans une église Saint-Eustache déserte. EN // Both onstage and in the studio, Ambrose Akinmusire enjoys traveling different paths, lending his talent to an impressive spectrum of formats and sounds. A look back at his Sons d’hiver appearances is evidence of his agility: he led a quintet in 2015; a big band in 2024, a string quartet and hip-hop vocalist for the luscious Origami Harvest in 2019; and a trio in 2024 for Owl Song. But his solo performances, as immortalized on the 2023 release Beauty is Enough, are rare. Akinmusire taped Beauty in 2023 in the old Paris church of Saint-Eustache, when it was empty. This exceptional concert is an opportunity to hear the Californian trumpetist triumph alone.
