[Nobleton] Hike & Potluck (8km) + Yoga Stretches & Mindful Meditation & Kleinburg Downtown

An easy and flat hike, perfect for beginners or people who want an enjoyable hike that isn't too physically demanding.

We will be hiking the Cold Creek Conservation Area, which consists of 190 hectares within the Humber River watershed (a designated Canadian Heritage River). The Area is located on Concession Road 11, midway between the communities of Bolton and Nobleton in King Township within the Regional Municipality of York. A portion of the property lies within the 'Natural Linkage' policy area of the Oak Ridges Moraine.

The Conservation Area is significant due to its unique natural features. Existing mixed conifer swamp forest contains black spruce which is rare in Southern Ontario and is home to a wide array of plant and animal species.

The surface is mainly natural with one interesting boardwalk over a bog. Topography wise, the trail is mildly undulating with one or two steeper slopes, a combination of woods, meadows and swamps.

Here is what to expect:
- 8km hike with option to walk longer if going to the Sculpture Garden after.
- Suitable for beginners
- Forested paths with pretty views
- Lunch post-hike on picnic tables
- free parking and clean washrooms on site
- 10 minute mindful meditation in the forest
- yoga stretches to begin and end the hike.

Hike includes:
* free parking
* yoga stretches to warm up before we start the hike and again at the end of the hike
* relaxed pace (we are NOT a fast hiking group). We wait for everyone and slow down when needed/stop and take breaks as needed.
* mindful meditation includes forest bathing (still, quiet time in the forest). We will find a spot in the forest to practise for a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes of silent meditation.
* lunch break (bring your own lunch)

What you need to bring:
- wear hiking shoes/hiking boots (dress appropriately for the weather)
- pack at least 8 cups of water or hot beverage
- lunch and snacks
- optional: hiking poles

Be prepared for all conditions on trail including mud.

Free parking in the lot. Drive through the gate and park in the lot in front of the Education Centre, or preferably, in the second lot on the other side of the picnic tables.

This hiking spot has WASHROOMS ON SITE at the Education centre.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY:
Visit downtown Kleinburg for a coffee/hot chocolate AND/OR:
Visit the Sculpture Garden at McMichael's Canadian Collection.
Free parking at the library/school near by.

For anyone interested in doing more after, you can drive 20 mins to downtown Kleinburg and check out the nearby sculpture garden for a FREE outdoor experience. Spend a couple of hours checking out the sculpture garden and also the downtown area. Lots of cute coffee shops nearby!

Please also include the $4.99 one time annual fee for 2024 if this is your first event in 2024. Fee covers the guided hike and meditation and instruction of exercises/yoga stretches.
