- **Event Description**: Please join us on Sunday, June 28th from 1-5 pm at Niles First United Methodist Church for a benefit event for Scarlett Rozier. We will have a pasta dinner, bake sale, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and a DJ for the event. 

Scarlett is a 12 year old Niles student and athlete who is battling a very rare form of pediatric lung cancer. She was diagnosed in November 2025 with pediatric pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma of her right pulmonary artery. She has gone thru multiple procedures to attempt to surgically remove the cancerous cells, all of which have ben unsuccessful. 

Most recently, it was discovered that the cancer cells are deeper in her lung tissue than originally seen and another tumor she has in a near-by area, on her trachea, is also malignant. With this discovery, the only viable option to get rid of the cancer at this point, is to remove the entire upper lobe of her right lung. 

Scarlett will be undergoing this major surgery in the next few weeks and will be hospitalized for a minimum of 2-3 weeks after the surgery.
