- **Event Description**: In 2023 bracht de Britse punkband Public Image Ltd hun eerste album sinds 8 jaar uit: ‘End of World’. De band werd opgericht in 1978 en is het project van John Lydon, de ex-frontman van Sex Pistols.

In 2023 bracht PiL ook het nummer ‘Hawaii’ uit, het meest persoonlijke nummer dat John Lydon ooit heeft gedeeld. Het nummer is een liefdesbrief aan zijn vrouw Nora, die in het voorjaar van 2023 aan Alzheimer overleed. Het album wordt eveneens aan haar opgedragen.

Na verschillende wisselingen van de bandleden, bestaat de Londense groep tegenwoordig uit gitarist Lu Edmonds, bassist Scot Firth (Elvis Costello, Steve Winwood, John Martyn) en drummer Mark Roberts (The Godfathers, Neneh Cherry, Massive Attack). In 1978 debuteerde de band met het onvolprezen album ‘First Issue’. Hierna brachten ze nog acht studioalbums uit. Na een langdurige break sinds 1992 wordt de band in 2009 weer herenigd. Hun muziek levert ze 5 UK Top 20 singles en 5 UK Top 20 albums op. Clubklassieker ‘This Is Not  A Lovesong’ en de single ‘Rise’ zijn de bekendste hits.
