The theme of this exhibition is the ‘diptych’. This theme symbolises the reconciliation of the two parts that constitute the island. The only constraint imposed on the artists was the format of art works. They had to present a vertical diptych or, for the sculpture, an art work with two complementary elements integrated or dissociated. The reason of this format is the political situation of Cyprus separated in two and with the hope of an upcoming reunification. Andreas Charalambides and Asik Mène have realised together with one part of the diptych, a 4 hands unique piece of art, a piece of peace.
Michele Ansermet Papadopoulos, internationally acclaimed painter and member of the SALON D’AUTOMNE, who has been living and working in Paphos for the past 33 years, brings this very highly symbolic exhibition to Cyprus. The exhibition first took place with great success during the framework of the PAFOS EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2017 from the 1st till the 15th of December 2017.
For the last 3 years Michele Ansermet Papadopoulos worked relentlessly gathering all the artists for this thoughtfully curated exhibition, and the success of this important artistic event is widely due to her generous convictions and to her unwavering determination which has been received with deep thanks from everyone involved.
This unique artistic event taking place during the FRANCOPHONIES 2018, is supported by the IFC french institut, with Laurence Troccaz, French Embassy and THE COLLECTION GALLERY, with Rebecca Tornaritis. Thank you particularly to Sylvie Koechlin, president of the SALON D’AUTOMNE, who has supported the project from the start.
The art exhibition will remain open to the public from the 14th of March till the 25th of April 2018.
