City walk: The Architecture of Cypriots During British Rule
A unique opportunity to explore some fine specimens of the Architecture of Cypriots During British Rule (1878-1960), while walking in the old city of Nicosia. Our guide will be the most knowledgeable person on the subject: Costas Georghiou, architect, town planner and author of the homonymous book. Thought the walk, participants will have the chance to see particular buildings of private and communal use under new light and better understand the development of Cypriot architecture along with the social, economic and political framework at the time. Each building shall reveal in a captivating way the motives and aspirations of the Cypriots of all communities who created it. Costas will be introduced and hosted by AHDR Board Members Evren Inancoglu and Marios Epaminondas
Participation in the activity is free of charge but due to limited number of places available, it is necessary to register by sending an email to 'europedirectnicosia | home4cooperation ! info' by 22 of September 2017. Applications to participate will be accommodated on a first come first served basis. ID/passport will be needed for crossing checkpoints
