The Jazz Barracudas have been playing together for over a decade and feature their own unique take on originals and music from the jazz idiom.
Chris Pitts — Saxophone
Chris Pitts is a dynamic saxophonist and bandleader known for powerful performances steeped in post-bop, blues, and modern jazz traditions. A Detroit native, he has shared stages with legends including Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Frank Foster, Regina Carter, and Aretha Franklin. Pitts has performed across the U.S. and Europe—from major jazz festivals to intimate clubs—leading groups that feature driving rhythm sections and adventurous arrangements.
Scott Davidson — guitar
Scott’s playing bridges modern jazz, blues, and ambient soundscapes. With luminous tone, elegant voicings, and fluid improvisation, he can be a sensitive colorist or a fire-starting soloist—always listening, always in service of the composition.
Gillian DeLear — drums
A dynamic, song-first drummer, Gillian blends crisp time, melodic cymbal colors, and cinematic textures. Equally at home with whisper-quiet brushwork and high-octane grooves, she drives ensembles with unshakable feel and intuitive interplay—always elevating the music while leaving space for it to breathe.
Richard Shaw — bass
On upright and electric bass, Richard anchors the music with a deep pocket and warm, singing tone. His lines are economical yet expressive—locking in the groove, shaping harmony from below, and stepping forward with lyrical counter-melodies when the moment calls. He often can be heard playing with DVinci Soul.
