Audition Dates: March 15th and 16th, 2026
Callbacks: Tuesday, March 17th, 2026.
Actors ages 8-12 should arrive at 6pm, actors ages 13 and up should arrive at 7pm.
Auditions for Wizard of Oz will be Sunday, March 15 and Monday, March 16th with callbacks on Tuesday, March 17th. Auditions will be held in the rehearsal hall at the Old Post Office Playhouse. Ashley West-Davis is directing, and is looking for actors ages 8 and up. Please prepare 32 bars of a song that you feel best displays your talent and personality. All auditionees will participate in a dance call. Callback materials will be sent out Monday night. Not all those in the cast will be called back – only the characters that we need to see more from!
Show Dates: May 1, 2, 3m, 8, 9, 10m, 15, 16, 17m. School Shows are May 5 and 6. All evening shows are at 7:30pm, Matinees (those dates labeled with “m”) are at 3pm, and school shows are at 9:00am, 10:45am, and 12:30pm.

You must be available for all performances. Please bring your list of rehearsal conflicts with you. You MUST be able to attend all of the tech week (the week before the show opens) unless in rare emergency cases an exception is approved before being cast by the director.

Character Breakdown:
Some characters will have a “playing age,” meaning a range that someone of any age could convincingly portray). “Adult” is 18+, Teen is 13-18, Youth is 8-12.
Dorothy Gale: Mezzo. Strong dancer and singer with full sound. Young innocent girl with a tendency to find trouble. Loves her family, friends, and her dog, Toto. Must be comfortable with dogs. Sings “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” and “Jitterbug.” Playing age: 15 – 18.
Zeke/Cowardly Lion: Baritone. Farmhand and friend of Dorothy in Kansas who turns into Lion in Oz. Sings “If I Only Had the Nerve,” “ King of the Forest,” “Jitterbug,” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” Adult or Teen.
Hickory/Tin Man: Baritone/Tenor. Farmhand and friend of Dorothy who turns into Tin Man in Oz. Sings “If I Only Had a Heart,” “Jitterbug,” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” Adult or Teen.
Hunk/Scarecrow: Baritone/Tenor. Farmhand and friend of Dorothy who turns into Scarecrow in Oz. Sings “If I Only Had a Brain,” “Jitterbug,” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” Adult or Teen.
Glinda: Soprano. The good witch. She is the beautiful protector of the Munchkins and Dorothy. Sings in the “Munchkins Musical Sequence” and the “Poppies Sequence.” Adult or Teen.
Wicked Witch of the West/Miss Gulch: The bad witch. She is green and mean. Dorothy’s enemy. Must be comfortable with dogs, and able to ride a bike. Non-singing role. Adult.
Professor Marvel/Wizard of Oz: Friendly traveling salesman who convinces Dorothy to go back home to her family after she runs away. Turns into the ruler of the Emerald City. Powerful booming voice. Non-singing role. Adult.
Auntie Em: Dorothy’s aunt. Demanding, but loves her niece. Non-singing role. May also be in Adult/Teen ensemble. Playing age: 50-65.
Uncle Henry: Dorothy’s uncle. Hardworking and kind. Non-singing role. May also be in Adult/Teen ensemble. Playing age: 50-65.
ADULT / TEEN ENSEMBLE (Ages 13 and up) :
Guard of Oz: Strong comedic actor. Sings “Merry Old Land of Oz.”
Winkie General: Leader of the Winkies. Sings “The Winkies’ March.”
Crows: Sing harmony in “If I Only Had a Brain.”
Trees: In the Tin Man scene. Not happy with Dorothy picking their apples.
Poppies/Jitterbugs: Dancers, ballet and/or tap a plus. Sing “Poppies” and “Jitterbug”
Ozians: Sing “The Merry Old Land of Oz”
Winkies: Sing “The Winkies’ March”
YOUTH ENSEMBLE (Ages 8-13) : Winged Monkeys, Munchkins
Nikko: Wicked Witch’s right-hand monkey. Non-singing role.
Mayor: Solo lines in “Munchkinland Sequence” and “Yellow Brick Road”
Coroner: Solo lines in “Munchkinland Sequence” and “Yellow Brick Road”
Fiddler: Solo lines in “Yellow Brick Road”
Braggart: Line in “Munchkinland Sequence”
Barrister: Solo lines in “Munchkinland Sequence”
Lullaby League: 3 Munchkins in the “Munchkinland Sequence,” ballet dancers
Lollipop League: 3 Munchkins in the “Munchkinland Sequence”
