- **Event Description**: For Fourth Tuesday Photography's May program, Mike Mendoza will present "History Through a Lens: Manzanar and Amache National Historic Sites."

Manzanar and Camp Amache were two of 10 American concentration camps where more than 120,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated during World War II.

"We'll take a stroll back in time and visit a place of desolate beauty, pain and hardship," Mike writes. "It is also a place that shows us a picture of the unconquerable human spirit! Manzanar National Historic Site and Amache National Historic Site show one of the harder parts of the story of our country, but the courage and strength that these Americans personified through adversity give new meaning to 'land of the free and home of the brave.'"

Mike Mendoza is an amateur landscape photographer who enjoys nothing more than getting out and shooting anything with a beautiful view. He has recently relocated from the beauty of California's Central Valley to explore the very different, but just as beautiful, sunsets, prairies and varied landscapes in Kansas.
