A film by Tom Marchant & The East Renfrewshire Movie Makers
City of the Dead was made by several members of East Renfrewshire Movie Makers about six years ago and tells the story of some of the fascinating characters buried in Glasgow’s Southern Necropolis. The club has been meeting for 64 years, having started life as Thornliebank Cine Club, and still meets monthly. This will be complemented by a short film about Old Cathcart.

In association with Eastwood Theatre, East Renfrewshire Heritage Service is showing this film as part of a season of screenings by local filmmaker Tom Marchant. Tom has been making local history films for a number of years in partnership with local organisations and historians. He has amassed a considerable body of work, and we are delighted to be showcasing these films in our brand-new cinema room at Eastwood House.
