Lisa Rowe – violin
Basil Bunelik – accordion
Rupert Mcdonald – guitar
Družba founder, Basil Bunelik writes, “The word [družba] means friendship in Slavonic languages. The band plays a tantalising mix of klezmer, gypsy, Russian, Romanian, Ukrainian and Hungarian folk music and songs. Fiddler Lisa sings in these languages in a meeting of beautiful melodies and sounds, supported by Rupe on guitar and Basil, exploiting the full potential of the accordion as a truly expressive instrument.
There’ll be room to sit and absorb the music, plus plenty of room to dance, let your hair down and get moving on this December night. Basil will also reflect on his life and experiences living in Lviv, Ukraine during Soviet times while introducing this mix of music and songs that are in his DNA.
