Welcome to the first of what we hope will be a yearly kata taikai - hosted by Kashi No Ki Kenyu Kai and in memory of founder Trevor Chapman (6D), known for his love of, and excellence in, kendo kata.
What is a kata taikai?
During a kata taikai you and your partner will perform your kata at the same time as another pair in your division. Judges will watch and decide which pair performed the kata best and indicate the winners by raising their flags. You will then progress to the next round to compete against another pair, with winners in each category eventually being declared.
