Setting off clockwise, the route skirts the impressive Carisbrooke Castle before descending towards the quiet valley of Bowcombe. Rolling fields and far-reaching views accompany much of the way, with the late November landscape revealing muted colours and crisp air. The return via the Shepherd’s Trail provides a peaceful finish along gentle tracks, leading back towards Carisbrooke with fine views of the downs.
