Based in Lexington, Kentucky, The Lexington Singers provides opportunities for children, youth, and adults. The Adult Choir is comprised of more than 200+ members. The Lexington Singers currently includes five choirs with over 300 voices total, including four children’s choirs, and an advanced handbell ensemble.Dr. Jefferson Johnson is Director of Choral Activities at the University of Kentucky, where he conducts the University Chorale and Men’s Chorus and directs the graduate choral program. He holds degrees from the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Colorado, and is a former member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus under Robert Shaw.Dr. Johnson is also Artistic Director and Conductor of the Lexington Singers, a 180‑voice community chorus that performs major works annually with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. Under his leadership, the Singers have toured internationally throughout Europe and South America, with notable performances at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, and Carnegie Hall.An active adjudicator and clinician, Dr. Johnson has worked with honor choirs across the United States and regularly appears at national and regional choral conferences.Newmarket Community Choir NCC began in February 2010 as part of 'Newmarket Can Sing'; an initiative funded by Newmarket Town Council. From its humble beginnings in a small room in The Rutland Arms, it has grown and evolved into a lively and loud choir, with around 85 members, ranging from their early twenties to their not so early 80's!They have performed in European cities with choir tours to Maisons-Laffitte, Paris, Belgium, Edinburgh and Germany singing in fantastic venues like Ghent Cathedral, Menin Gate and St Giles’ Cathedral.Whilst closer to home, have also sung in Ely Cathedral and Abbey Road Studios (London).NCC is also keen to give back to the community it comes from by raising money for local charities and causes. The choir performs multiple times a year, from local concerts to community events in and around Newmarket and, since its beginnings, has raised nearly £20,000 for local charities.Robert Cross has been Director of the Newmarket Community Choir for the last 15 years. He is a former Head Chorister of Ely Cathedral, studied music at the University of Surrey where he majored in Baroque vocal performance. As a soloist, he has performed major works including Messiah, Carmina Burana, Bach cantatas, and Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, appearing in venues such as Ely, Winchester & Rochester Cathedrals.He has also performed and recorded extensively in the UK, Europe, and New Zealand.
