- **Event Description**: The Poetry Club is running alongside Abigail Reynolds’ solo exhibition Walking A Cappella at Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange.About this EventThe Poetry Club is a revival of a club which was set up by a group of artists in St Just Library in 2018. Each session is led by an artist, who brings a poem of their choosing to share with the group for discussion for the first 40 minutes. In the second half of the session, group participants are invited to share their own recent writing for informal feedback.(It is not expected that everybody will have writing to share.)There will be six sessions, running from 15 Jan until 30 Apr, taking place in The studio at Newlyn Art Gallery, which looks out to sea. You can come to as many of the sessions as you like, but each one will need to be booked.WED 4 FEB: SIMON BAYLISSSimon Bayliss is an artist and potter based in St Ives, Cornwall, UK. With a background making paintings and dance music, he works mainly in slipware ceramics, with occasional forays into poetry and performance. He was raised in Andros, Bahamas, then East Devon, UK and has been living in Cornwall most of his adult life. Bayliss teaches pottery at Tresabenn Studio and is an Associate Lecturer in Fine Art BA, at Falmouth University.Free, all welcome, but booking essential as places are limited.Hot drinks and biscuits provided!
