Each session is led by an artist, who brings a poem of their choosing to share with the group for discussion for the first 40 minutes. In the second half of the session, group participants are invited to share their own recent writing for informal feedback.(It is not expected that everybody will have writing to share.)There will be six sessions, running from 15 Jan until 30 Apr, taking place in The studio at Newlyn Art Gallery, which looks out to sea. You can come to as many of the sessions as you like, but each one will need to be booked. THU 15 JAN: MARIA CHRISTOFORIDOUMaria Christoforidou is a Zambian Greek artist, writer, and researcher. Maria moved to Cornwall in the last millennium to study Fine Art and is now tied to the sea. Maria, inspired by collaboration, uses different formats - text, video, photography, sound, performances and workshops – to explore similarities and the current possibilities for connection between plants, humans and other animals. Questioning in various archives how words and images shape our worldview, Maria likes to listen to the body and make up stories about what could have been to discover how things can be.
