This session is designed to help pet parents become more familiar with the world of veterinary oncology. We’ll cover the basics of cancer in pets, including some of the most common diagnoses and what resources are available to support you and your furry family members. You’ll also get an introduction to common cancer treatment options such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery, as well as ways to help keep cancer patients comfortable and maintain their quality of life.
At the end of the talk, there will be time for questions and discussion about cancer in pets, so feel free to come prepared with any topics or concerns you’d like to explore!

About the Speaker
Dr. Brittany Zumbo, DVM, DACVIM obtained her veterinary degree from Michigan State University. She then went on to pursue post-doctoral training at Cornell University where she completed two internships and a Medical Oncology residency. She joined Cornell University Veterinary Specialists in 2023.
Dr. Zumbo has special interests in cancer biology and has worked on various animal cancer focused research projects involving cancers such as thyroid carcinoma, lymphoma, and feline injection site sarcomas. She is passionate about teaching, be it students, residents, clients or veterinarians. She loves educating her patients’ families about cancer and treatment options so that they can make the best decisions for their pets and their family. When not in the clinic she enjoys spending the time training her newest family member, a Saint Bernard named Laios.
