🇳🇬 Join us for a vibrant exploration of the life and legacy of Twins Seven-Seven (1944–2011), a visionary Nigerian painter, sculptor, and musician whose work brought Yoruba mythology and folklore to international acclaim.
All ages welcome, family friendly event.
Born Taiwo Olaniyi Salau, Twins Seven-Seven was the only surviving child from seven sets of twins—an extraordinary lineage that inspired his adopted name and deeply shaped his artistic worldview.
A leading figure in the Oshogbo Art Movement of the 1960s, Twins Seven-Seven developed a unique style that fused traditional Yoruba symbolism with a dynamic, psychedelic aesthetic.
His intricate line work, organic patterns, and storytelling approach turned each canvas into a living tapestry of spiritual narratives, cultural identity, and imagination.
As one of the few African artists to gain major international recognition in his lifetime, his works have been exhibited in museums across the globe, including the Smithsonian and the Musée du Quai Branly.
In this cultural workshop, we’ll delve into the themes and and try out techniques of Twins Seven-Seven through a guided look at three of his most celebrated works:.
