Read Across America Day is March 2, and we’ll be celebrating the joy of reading all week long. The books we’re giving away are geared toward children 12 and under, with the goal of encouraging families to read together.

We’re also excited to host a special story hour at the store. Mrs. Bette Sample will be joining us at 10 a.m. on March 7 to read with the children. We hope families will stop by and enjoy this special time together.

Why reading matters: children who are read to regularly develop stronger language skills, improved concentration, and better academic outcomes. Studies show that kids who read (or are read to) just 20 minutes a day are exposed to nearly 2 million words a year, building vocabulary and comprehension that last a lifetime. Even spending 10 minutes a day reading together can significantly improve a child’s literacy and confidence.

We’re proud to support young readers in our community and hope these books spark imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading.
