- **Event Description**: This summer, I’m inviting you to join my Neo-Andalusi Workshop Series — a journey into the fantasy fusion style pioneered by Nesma, inspired by the poetic aesthetics of al-Andalus (7th–14th c.) and bringing together Reda technique, Spanish folk traditions, and Oriental dance.

Across three Tuesday evenings in January (6:30–8:30pm), we’ll explore technique, character, musicality, and collaborative creation to a musical landscape of Classical Arabic music and poetry. 

Classes level varies starting out at beyond beginner and progressing across the series. Each workshop is both stand alone and iterative. By participating in the series you will develop and refine your Neo-Andalusi dance vocabulary and feeling. 


Introduction to Neo-Andalusi Dance
Tuesday 13 January · 6:30–8:30pm

Learn basic technique and combos in the Neo-Andalusi style, pioneered by Nesma.

A Village Romp – Choreography
Tuesday 20 January · 6:30–8:30pm

Drawing on inspirations from Reda, Spanish folk, and oriental dance, this fantasy choreography will have you clamping, stamping and skirt-swishing through summer.

Neo-Andalusi Performance Lab
Tuesday 27 January · 6:30–8:30pm

Take part in a group experiment to create a Neo-Andalusi dance extravaganza! Learn sections of a 9/8 choreography and evoke the spirit of the gazelle — a very majestic creature indeed.
