He’s lamenting the chronic shortage of real guitar rock and roll afflicting this ever fracturing planet so ex-Radio Birdman, Hitmen, New Christs and Screaming Tribesmen guitarist Chris Masuak is returning to Australia to do something about it.
Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier will land at the Hamilton Station Hotel in Newcastle on Thursday, November 14. Supports will be locals Drugs in Sport and Melvic Centre.
It’s been more than two years since Masuak left his adopted home of Spain and came back to his longtime old stamping ground of Australia but he hasn’t been idle.
As well as gigging through Europe, he’s released an EP with his main Spanish band, Los Revelators, a swansong single with his other Spanish band, The Viveiro Wave Riders (on US label Savage Magic).
He’s had a song included on UK label Cherry Red’s “I Wanna Be A Teen Again - American Power Pop 1980-1989” box set (by virtue of being born in Canada) and has recorded a new record with Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier.
Chris Masuak’s Dog Solider (the band) will play songs from the album (of the same name) on their Australian tour, as well as a swag of killer music from Klondike’s notable former bands and solo career.
Bassist Tony Bambach is unavailable for this tour due to work commitments, so Masuak and drummer Stuart Wilson (New Christs, Lime Spiders, Van Ruin, Aberration) are being joined by Phil Hall (Sardine V, Dropbears, Roddy Ray'Da & The Surfin' Caesars, Hovering Spooks, Lime Spiders and John Kennedy's '68 Comeback Special).
Expect the tour (and the album on I-94 Bar Records) to shake some action and burn some eyes.
