This course is designed to introduce a more detailed examination of geological processes and practical skills. As long as you are familiar with some common rocks, such as sandstone, limestone, basalt, and granite, and can identify a fault or fold, then this course should present no problems. We will take a closer look at rocks and the minerals they are composed of, including thin section examination. Geological maps will be explained, and we will construct a stratigraphic (vertical) section in the field (Howick).
