The town centre is also home to many interesting shops and eateries.The Kennet and Avon Canal runs through the town centre offering attractive walks and boat trips, leaving from the Wharf which was once a busy inland trading port. on the other side of the canal is Victoria Park which hosts a boating lake and a mini golf course.We will meet at 1:30 pm at the Wharf Bus station prior to taking a 1 1/2 hour canal boat trip at 2.45 pm from the nearby Wharf (RG14 5AP) where there is also an excellent cafe and information centre. Tickets for the boat trip must be booked in advance from the Kennett and Avon Canal Trust https://katrust.org.uk/our-boats/jubilee-bookings/We will then take a short scenic walk along the canal before meeting at 5pm for a meal at the Hatchet Inn which is a JD Wetherspoons hotel located in the historic market square (RG14 5BD)Newbury railway station is 10-15 minutes walk from the town centre and the Wharf.
