Second Sundays: Oh Yes, Ki-mo-no!


Experience a wide array of Japanese culture from fashion to food to music through the lens of Kimono Refashioned: 1870s-Now!

 Highlights:


Live hip-hop taiko drum performers.

Create onigiri (rice ball) food art inspired by kimono patterns.

Learn how to shop for kimonos in a speed Japanese language course.

Panel to discuss the history of kimonos, its presence in pop culture, and issues of tension between cultural appropriation, inspiration and/or appreciation.

Program also includes MakerSPACE Drop-ins; gallery tours; planetarium shows; and more.



TICKETS

Paid and free tickets will also be made available day-of at the door. 


FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED

All activities and performances are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Light refreshments will be provided at a nominal charge.
