Our new exhibition, The Empire City Begins, will be just one highlight of this tour about the rise of New York City thanks largely to the opening of the Erie Canal.Opened in October 1825, the Erie Canal brought technological and economic changes that made day hotels, like the Mount Vernon Hotel, flourish. On the gentle current of the canal, boats loaded with goods traveled at 4 miles per hour making the journey between the Midwest and the East faster than ever before. Learn about the canal and its impact, view our new exhibition, then step into the Tavern for the latest in our series of historically-inspired tea tastings. The tasting will feature a tea talk and selection of four to five teas inspired by what would have been served at the Mount Vernon Hotel; includes light refreshments.Follow us on Instagram: mvhmuseum1826-2026: Celebrating 200 Years of the Mount Vernon Hotel - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/new-york/the-empire-city-discover-new-york-citys-hidden-history-tea-tasting/100002002079606999 - **Event Categories**: fitness, Exhibitions - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Age Limit: All Ages - Duration: 2 hours - Location: Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 39.19, max: 39.19, currency: USD ## Event venue details - **city**: New York - **state**: NY - **country**: United States - **location**: Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden - **lat**: 40.7604941 - **long**: -73.9596522 - **full address**: Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, 421 East 61st Street, New York, United States ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: The Empire City: Discover New York City's Hidden History + Tea Tasting - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/87ed919b8f9d1bf1678a56353c27bbe9e42019a9ad3d7968b812d75acbebe4fc-rimg-w1200-h1600-dc080808-gmir.jpg?v=1790850670 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is The Empire City: Discover New York City's Hidden History + Tea Tasting being held? - **A:** The Empire City: Discover New York City's Hidden History + Tea Tasting takes place on Mon, 09 Nov, 2026 at 03:00 pm to Mon, 09 Nov, 2026 at 05:00 pm at Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, 421 East 61st Street, New York, United States. - **Q**: Who is organizing The Empire City: Discover New York City's Hidden History + Tea Tasting? - **A:** The Empire City: Discover New York City's Hidden History + Tea Tasting is organized by Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
