Britt is Assistant Professor in African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. A historian of the Black diaspora with a focus on Latin America, his research focuses on contemporary Brazil, digital humanities and emerging technologies, and critical geography. His first book, , will be released by Duke UP in 2026. Britt’s work in digital humanities includes leading The RemediesAR, a collaborative augmented reality project based in São Paulo, and being a member of the team behind Pauliceia 2.0, an open-course participatory historical mapping platform.Britt received his PhD from Emory University in 2018 and was Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities at Northwestern’s Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities from 2018-19. He was assistant professor at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts before joining the faculty at UT-Austin in 2025.
