It features the work of the Harlem-based artist, author, and two-time breast cancer survivor.What does it mean to give something a second life?For Grant-Cooper, it is found in rescuing landfill-bound objects—such as rusted metal, forgotten items, and everyday castoffs—and reassembling them into expressive sculptures. Presented during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, her work carries a deeply personal meaning, reflecting her own journey of healing, survival, and the discovery that endings can become new beginnings.SECOND LIFE is one of our Fall programming events, dedicated to heritage, storytelling, and sustainability.
