When Hans Kraus began as a photography dealer in 1980, attention was focused on the upcoming 150th anniversary of photography in 1989. Fox Talbot’s negative/positive process on paper and Daguerre’s direct positive on polished silver were both revealed in 1839. Today, we face another moment of transition while looking ahead to the medium’s bicentennial.
