Come sip, flip through pages, and get lost in a world without men!Wednesday, October 7th7:00 - 9 PMOpen Book Club Studios80 Bowery, New York, NY 10013About The BookThere is a land in the mountains that no man has found. A utopia with no king, no war, and no history of either. For two thousand years, this society was built by women. Then three men, certain it is theirs to discover, arrive. What they find in Herland forces them to question all that they left behind. From Charlotte Perkins Gilman, author of the cult classic "The Yellow Wallpaper," Herland is an essential novel in the canon of feminist speculative literature and a provocative exploration of the borders between individuality and community, masculinity and femininity, dystopia and utopia. What might a different society look like? it asks. Who might it be for? Those questions are as urgent now as they were when it was first printed over a century ago, and Open Editions is bringing it back as the very first title on their list. What to ExpectUpon arrival, check in, grab a name tag, and settle in with a glass of wine and your new book. You don't need to have read the book to come, you'll get a copy at the event!
