This year’s productions form part of the cornerstone of a cinema that was fundamental to the development of modern-day Chilean filmmakers and the industry.Over the course of two days, we will also honor Nieves Yankovic—a Chilean actress, director and documentalist, by featuring the following: Romance de Medio Siglo (full-feature film), in the role of an actress; and two of her prestigious documentaries Isla de Pascua and Andacollo.Day 2 ProgramIsla de Pascua (Nieves Yankovic and Jorge Di Lauro, 1965)A poetic gaze at the history and mysteries of Easter Island (Rapa Nui), through its landscapes, mythical sculptures, festivals, and ceremonies, featuring abundant songs and dances that become the true guides of the documentary. This film was restored in 2018 by the National Film Library of Chile (Cineteca Nacional de Chile) in its digital laboratory, based on copies deposited in 2014 by Gisela Cares, daughter of the iconic couple of documentarians.
