He teeters at the edge of folk and rock, drawing from a varied musical background which includes orchestral composition, jazz improv, and ambient music. He is inspired by: his stutter, queer longing, early mornings and late nights, and pasta.Finley Greene has developed a distinctive voice as a cross-genre songwriter and composer, drawing on a lifelong passion for melody and storytelling. In 2021, with the guidance of Chris Funk of The Decemberists and audio engineer Adam Lee (Sleater-Kinney, Portugal the Man), Finley wrote, recorded, and produced his debut album, Petrichor, an early milestone that fused indie sensibility with classical craft. He went on to earn a BA with Honors in Music from Vassar College, where he was awarded the Jean Slater Edson Prize in Composition.
