Moderated by artist Baseera Khan, the conversation considers Khosravi's work across a spectrum of cultural signification and value assignment: from sacred object to commodity, from the church altar to the gallery walls, from devotional image to possession. The paintings often function as private symbolic systems, in which ornament, architecture, and illusion serve as tools for navigating agency and selfhood. Looking to the visual languages of seventeenth-century Dutch painting––its seductions of surface, ownership, domestic space, and material excess––and through the saleable histories of art and art markets, we will explore how Khosravi’s work not only intimates self-actualization through dimensional paintings, but also engages systems of looking, value, and power that continue to shape contemporary life.Doors will open at 6 pm, and the conversation will begin by 6:30 pm.
