At once a sincere imagination of a perfect society and a satire of Europe in the sixteenth century, Thomas More's seminal work, Utopia outlines how a rational government ought to approach communalism, and solve for corruption and inequality. Adrian Shirk's essay collection, Heaven Is a Place on Earth, blends memoir, history and sociology to sketch case studies of modern and ancient utopian experiements.
