Join us for an extraordinary literary and musical evening as celebrated poet, translator, and Pushkin scholar Julian Henry Lowenfeld presents a world premiere reading from his newly completed translation of Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin—a masterwork often hailed as the jewel of Russian literature.
This special event also features Tatyana’s Letter Scene from Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin, performed by two distinguished artists: the internationally acclaimed soprano Dr. Elena Mindlina, whose luminous voice has graced major stages around the world, accompanied by Dr. Visha Nguyen-Voskresensky, an award-winning classical pianist. Together, they bring the emotional landscape of Onegin to life through music that echoes the novel-in-verse’s wit, longing, and lyricism.
Lowenfeld’s new translation captures Pushkin’s dazzling rhyme, movement, and humor with remarkable vibrancy. This reading marks the first public unveiling of his fresh interpretation—an intimate chance to hear the text as both literature and performance, in the presence of its translator.
An evening of poetry, music, passion, and artistry—perfect for lovers of Russian literature, opera, and the performing arts.
Event is in English.
