In Java, gamelan music is often inseparable from the arts of poetry, dance and various forms of theater such as dance-drama, and shadow-puppet play (wayang kulit), and are usually integral parts of special occasions or social events. Performances which are purely musical are called klenèngan and are usually given in the context of some sort of celebration. Often arranged by a family to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding, circumcision, memorial, and other life event, the performance is integrated into a social gathering during which guests enjoy music, snacks, and conviviality, lasting long into the night.Made possible in part with funds from Creative Engagement, a regrant program supported by The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) in partnership with the City Council, The New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and the Howard Gilman Foundation, and administered by LMCC (Lower Manhattan Cultural Council). Also made possible by a grant from the American Indonesian Cultural & Educational Foundation (AICEF).And with support from the Indonesian Film Festival. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/8c041c70-a41a-11f0-bc91-b5c573147be5-rimg-w1200-h472-dcffffff-gmir.jpg - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/new-york/gamelan-kusuma-laras-presents-a-javanese-music-jam-2025/100001752197904099 - **Event Categories**: art, entertainment, music, theatre, performances, festivals, live-music, literary-art, nonprofit, it - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 1 ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 10, max: 20, currency: USD ## Event venue details - **city**: New York - **state**: NY - **country**: United States - **location**: New York Indonesian Consulate - **lat**: 40.7697376 - **long**: -73.9678969 - **full address**: New York Indonesian Consulate, 5 East 68th Street, New York, United States ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: Gamelan Kusuma Laras presents a Javanese Music Jam 2025 - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/239a21d5e03903a09740c50e2aae72bbd7bf2fef54287adad8da7e9a7d8016db-rimg-w1200-h800-dca59276-gmir.jpg?v=1759909459 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is Gamelan Kusuma Laras presents a Javanese Music Jam 2025 being held? - **A:** Gamelan Kusuma Laras presents a Javanese Music Jam 2025 takes place on Sat, 13 Dec, 2025 at 04:00 pm to Sat, 13 Dec, 2025 at 10:00 pm at New York Indonesian Consulate, 5 East 68th Street, New York, United States. - **Q**: Who is organizing Gamelan Kusuma Laras presents a Javanese Music Jam 2025? - **A:** Gamelan Kusuma Laras presents a Javanese Music Jam 2025 is organized by Gamelan Kusuma Laras. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
