We're super excited to host Brooks Burns and Joanne Handler, both showing as part of our current art showcase, WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS.Brooks Burns creates hard-edge abstract paintings that exist in dynamic tension between Minimalism and Maximalism. His geometric compositions reference minimalist traditions through their crisp forms and deliberate structures, yet his bold, vibrant palette allows the work to flourish equally in maximalist environments.A graduate of The College of Charleston where he studied Studio Art and Art History with a focus on painting and printmaking, Burns moved to New York in 2009, where the city's endless interplay of form, texture, and color continues to fuel his creative vision. Making his debut at MAISON 10, Burns presents work that honors the past while speaking confidently to the future.Joanne Handler's paintings merge lyrical gestures with vibrant colors, created through a process that contrasts with her typically meticulous nature. While painting, she relinquishes control, letting music guide her emotional responses and inform her choice of colors and unconventional tools: from brooms to fly swatters.Handler studied at The Art Students League and continues working with artist James Little. She has mounted two solo exhibitions at The Kaufman Arcade and participated in numerous group shows, including exhibitions at The White Room Gallery, SITE Brooklyn, Harlem School of the Arts and First Street Gallery.
