Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations
871 United Nations Plaza, New York, United States
This high-level side event will explore the accelerating impact of climate change on human mobility, and the urgent need for coordinated and inclusive responses to protect and empower affected communities.
With millions facing displacement due to rising sea levels, extreme weather events and ecosystem degradation, the event will emphasise the importance of enabling dignified and adaptive migration pathways to strengthen resilience and support sustainable development.
Highlights will include the presentation of the Great Caribbean Shifts report, followed by a lively panel discussion with contributions from speakers in Africa, the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Participants will then examine how climate mobility can contribute to achieving SDGs 3, 5, 8, 14 and 17, thereby advancing health, gender equality, decent work, ocean protection and global partnerships, while also fostering cross-regional cooperation and policy innovation to create a fairer and more sustainable future.
