Its location at the southern tip of Manhattan means gardens must contend with salt spray, strong winds, intense sun, heavy visitor use, and an increasingly unpredictable climate. The new landscape responds to these conditions with a planting approach designed for beauty, biodiversity, resilience, and long-term stewardship.During the walk, Claudia will share the thinking behind the project: how the new design honors the original Gardens of Remembrance while adapting them for the future; how plants were selected and combined; and how planting can perform ecological functions while creating a rich and beautiful public landscape.Tickets are required. General Admission tickets are $35. If you sign up to be a TBC Member, you will receive a promo code in your email that you can input during registration to waive the ticket fee. The tour's content is designed for adults; children ages 13 and up are welcome to participate alongside an adult chaperone if they have their own ticket.Location: Meet at the door of Castle Clinton inside The Battery.
