The program includes a world premier preview of an opera about Arturo Schomburg by composer Dr. Carlos Carillo and librettist Dr. Vanessa Valdés. Dr. Zuly Inirio will join members of The Harlem Chamber Players in performing Cinco canciones negras by the Spanish composer Xavier Montsalvatge and members of Harlem Opera Theater will join in selections from Verdi's Aida and Meyerbeer's L'Africaine in a nod to the soprano Caterina Jarboro, whom Schomburg reviewed when she gave her debut at the Hippodrome in 1933.
